PMI Gets Moving and Gives Back

Article Post Date: 2016

It was a busy and active spring and summer for PMI Global Philanthropy, with employees from every PMI office getting outside to support vital community projects.

In Seattle, PMI was the Presenting Sponsor of the 2016 Walk for Rice, which raised a record-breaking $312,000 to support the Chinatown-International District Food Bank. PMI employees spent Earth Day volunteering with Washington Green Schools and, during Bike to Work Month, raised funds for Sports in Schools, which supplies much-needed uniforms and equipment to schools in low-income neighborhoods, helping to keep kids engaged in school through sport.

In Manila, 29 PMI runners joined thousands of others in the 2016 World Vision Run for Health and Nutrition, raising almost $500 for programs that help to secure a better future for children in the Philippines, especially the most vulnerable in poor communities. Meanwhile, PMI walkers in Bentonville raised funds for diabetes in the JDRF One Walk in May.

An important part of PMI’s community engagement is donating PMI products to those who need them. Shanghai’s philanthropy team joined forces with MiGo’s marketing team to distribute 1,000 MiGo Kids water bottles to elementary students in remote mountain regions of Guizhou, China, making it easier for them to carry water to school.

Water bottles were also donated to students at a local junior high school in Bentonville who couldn’t afford to buy their own, and to teams of walkers raising money for breast cancer in the Susan G Komen 3-Day.
